Is it only one song regardless of the particular track? I presume the other songs are actually present on the drive (you have checked)?

Sometimes invisible files are created on FAT formatted drives and I wonder if one of those is guming up the works.

iTunes conversions generally work with other players. Yours is probably the first I have seen in several years here where somebody can't get a mp3 to play (vs. a host of other issues having nothing to do with the file in particular). Will the files play in Quicktime Player?

The player will find the iTunes songs, but will only play one. It gives the song title for only that first song and will not advance. I have tried three flash drives, have erased two of them, no change.

I converted two songs straight from a cd using All2mp3 and the songs played and advanced fine. The only difference between the two converted files when viewed in "get info" that I can see is there is no album info on the All2mp3 files. There must be some code either missing or added to the iTunes file. Because this unit is produced to sell in the Middle East, I have gotten no help from Panasonic. Is there a way to get more info on the mp3 files? At this point I could convert songs in All2mp3 or another program directly from cd (the iTunes files don't work after conversion by All2mp3), but that would be a lengthy process. The unit has a "Music Port" for mp3 players; my iPod works fine when plugged in to that port.

I know one does occasionally run into a mp3 that won't play on iTunes for no discernable reason, and maybe this is the reverse. There are media information tools (I use an older one called MediaInfoMac from when it was free) but I don't think I have seen anything that told me why it wouldn't play in iTunes. There is a mp3 repair tool called MP3Scan + Repair. Usually the problem is, as I said, the other way around with iTunes not being able to play the mp3.

One complicating factor is you say one file will play. It still isn't clear to me if it is just the first file that plays regardless of the actual file it happens to be, or it is a specific track and none of the others will play regardless of position. If it is one specific file that indicates a problem with the encoding of the others. If it is just the first one the player happens to play that suggests something is crashing the player after that first track.

You may just have to figure out some way to get this player to work if you want to continue to use it. The player is playing one of the iTunes tracks without issue so it isn't a basic iTunes encoding issue. How old is this player? Many, many years ago they changed the style of tags used to add information to mp3 files and perhaps this player can't use the newer style?

Only the first file on the drive will play, regardless of which file it is. This is a new player. As I said, files converted directly from cd to mp3 using a different converter work fine. They advance and random play works fine. mp3s downloaded from Amazon also work on this unit.

I am looking in to the tags used by iTunes to see if I can change them.

It is now a matter of some more research and experimentation to be able to play songs from a flash drive. I now know the player works, it is a highly rated system, and I am willing to put some effort into figuring out how to use it.
