I send a Unix command to clients to bind them to my OD server. It is formatted like this
dsconfigldap -fvxsgeN -a <www.example.com> -u <diradmin> -p <diradmin pass> -l <localadmin> -q <localadmin pass>
This works most of the time, but every now and again, i get this error:
"Error: Node name wasn't found. (2000)"
What does that mean and how can I go about fixing it?

For me the solution involved me updating the time settings with this terminal commend ->sudo ntpdate -u time.apple.com
after i opened system preferences->Network->Ethernet->Advanced(bot right of screen)->DNS->Search Domains and i added my domain controllers ip address and it allowed me to bind to AD.
I just had this problem on a clients computer. Turns out they had their clock set 10 minutes ahead and that was causing it not to work. After setting the time to be correct, I was able to connect just fine.
Please reset machine's clock as per DC's clock. It worked for me.
