iphone5, music help...not syncing, double adding, not erasing

having issues with music on my iphone 5. first i was adding songs from itunes on my computer to iphone and it was adding the songs twice. i hooked up the iphone again in itunes and manually erased all the songs. they are not showing on the iphone in itunes but they're still on the iphone when i go into the music on the iphone. i'm using os 10.9.2 and 7.1.1 on my mac and iphone respectively. please help. thanks
