Help with Final Cut Pro X on 2010 MacBook Pro 13"?

Hi everyone,

I'm attempting to run Final Cut Pro 10.1 on my 2010 MacBook Pro 13". It's the base model, 4Gb ram, 256Mb Nvidia vram, Intel Core 2 duo @2.4 GHz, and OS X mavericks. It's painfully slow compared to a 2012 MacBook Pro 13" with the i5 and 1GB of Video ram. I know I can't do much for hardware but are there any tips to make it run faster? I have Memory Clean from the MacApp Store and constantly clean my ram which helps a little....

Thanks for your help!

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

The Maximum Memory For This Model is NOT 8GB, it can fully support 16GB of 1067MHz DDR3 Ram with 2x8GB So-Dimm RAM Sticks from OWC (Other World Computing). As they run tests on Mac Hardware, and Often, Mac's can Use More RAM than Apple's Tech Team State.

You Can Also Add a 2.5" SSD Drive, but will be Limited By the 1.5Gbps Data Bus.

Kingston SSDNow Is a Good, Affordable And reliable Choice,

My Personal Choice is The Samsung 850 Pro 2TB, as, Paired with 16GB Of Ram, it Abolishes The Performance of my Brothers Early 2016 MacBook Pro.

Your desire to be able to run FCPX must be weighed against the reasons why you edit video using a professional grade application.

Add up the prices of 16G of RAM and a fast solid state drive and a couple of good external drives and you start to think maybe a new Mac is not such a bad idea. There are many refurbished and used Mac portables on the planet.
