iPhoto 7.1.5 upgrade

How do I upgrade from iPhoto 7.1.5? Library being damaged etc etc. I'm running 10.6.8.

Run Software Update, if your computer can accomodate any later versions of iPhoto they will be suggested. Do NOT try to force and upgrade.

I cant even get to that point. It won't open. I get these...
