Why can't i install mavericks on OsX mountain lion? I keep getting the message "Cannot install on Macintosh HD"

By any chance do you have a BootCamp partition on this hard drive?


You might also try restarting on the Lion recovery hard drive by doing Restart and hold the Command and R keys. Then from Utitilites choose Disk Utility and Repair Hard Drive so DU cleans up any damaged file structure on the startup disk. Then restart normally and try again to do the insall.
