How to refresh launchpad?

How can I refresh launchpad in order to retrieve the original apps? Only newly downloaded apps are appearing in the launchpad.

MacBook Air, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2), contents are new downloaded Apps

Copy and paste each of the three lines below to reset launchpad to A-Z. The first resets the launchpad. The second restarts to the Dock which is required to actually reset the Dock. The last restores Dock to normal setting.


defaults write com.apple.dock ResetLaunchPad -bool true

killall Dock

defaults write com.apple.dock ResetLaunchPad -bool false
