Question

Print jobs are getting stuck in the print queue.

The job has finished and the print copy has come out of the printer, but the job itself still shows in the queue. Any other jobs sitting next in the queue do not print because the first one is stalled almost as if the job did not finish. If I go in and close the print job, then most times the next job will start, but sometimes that won't work and I have to re-boot. Frustrating and time-consuming.

I'm running Mavericks. Printer is HP 5525. Any suggestions or assistance would be much appreciated.

Mac mini, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

Might be worth resetting the print system.

Right click on a printer in System Preferences > Printers & Scanners to get the "Reset Printing System" option.

NB: This will delete all print queues.

Then create the print queue again and see if that helps.

Thanks benwiggy. Good suggestion, but I think I'll see if there are any other options before I Reset because I would lose all my printers and then have to go through the process of setting up the local printer (the HP5525) along with three network printers. However, it may come to that. Thanks again.
