May 5, 2014 2:56 PM in response to jmc93908by iCare,If you press the caps lock key does it light up? If it does then this indicates that your system is booting but the display is either not recognized, is not displaying any video, or the display is displaying video but the backlight system is not lighting up. As long as you've tried turning up the brightness then there is not much you can do other than take it in for a diagnosis. If you have a very bright flashlight you can turn on the iMac and then shine the flashlight onto various areas of the iMac display to see if you can see any faint images on the display. If you do then this indicates that the display is displaying the image, but the backlight is not turning on for some reason. It doesn't change the outcome, but at least you can assist the technician who is troubleshooting your iMac.
