Adobe Flash Player for Mac 10.5.8

I have been using Adobe Flash Player for ages (for Hulu, etc.) and I tried to update it today.

After that I was unable to open it. It keep showing the message:

The application Install Adobe Flash Player quit unexpectedly

I tried to find out what I should do and followed some directions shown to solve this, such as:

- Uninstall Flash Player

- trashing Flash Player plug-in (wasn't there, or couldn't find it)

- trashing Flash Player Install Manager (wasn't there, or couldn't find it)

According to Adobe's instructions, prior to installing Flash Player, I should open Safari Preferences, Security and then enable Allow Java and Allow All Other Plug-Ins in the Internet Plug-ins section, but no Internet Plug-Ins section appears in the Security section of Preferences.

I have tried to download Flash Player from a few sites, but I keep on receiving the same 'quit unexpectedly' message.

If anyone could help me, I would be really grateful. I need to resolve this problem as soon as possible. Up to today, there has been no problem.

Thanks for your help.

Best regards,

Susan, Japan

Hi Susan,

Be careful where you download from, many free sites now attach malware or adware to it, only get from Adobe's site.

There are no recent updates for 10.5.8, is your iMac PPC or Intel?

See in each Browser which version of Flash it thinks it has...

Dear BD Aqua,

Hello again! Thank you for the tips. I will keep them in mind.

Actually, I was just frantically trying to delete my message, because after I submitted it, I continued trying to solve this problem and I did. By using Time Machine, I managed to restore the app, etc. I had tried it earlier, but I must have been missing something.

Thanks again. Your notes will come in handy in the future.

Best regards,

Susan
