Q: Mavericks on older MacBook?

I bought my MacBook (white 13 inch) in Feb 2008 (late 2007). Right now it has Snow Leopard.  Is installing Mavericks hopeless?  Do I have to get a new laptop to get current iTunes and manage my music on new iPad and iPhone 5?  Tell me it's not so!!!!!

That model can not run Mavericks, however if you are running Snow Leopard (10.6.8) you can run the latest version of iTunes and this sync the iPhone.
