How to clear memory in the url bar?

There are very old memory bar responses that consistantly come up first, even when other more frequently visited pages should supercede them and I want to clear them out and reset it to represent info I actually use.

I've cleared the cache, cookies, personal data and every other speck of info in all the obvious places then restarted several times, in both browsers I use,

and find that it does nothing to clear the url bar memory. I've combed Apple Preferences, and the Security/Privacy panel offers nothing recognizably helpful. There is some other path I've not seen - what is it? Thank you!

That when you type directly in the URL field the same results seem to come up and there seems to be no way to edit the list.

I think this is a bit lke the Mail and the list of Previous people you have emailed which pop up even if they are not in your Address Book

In the Window menu of Mail there is an option to view the List (where you can edit it)

In Firefox > Preferences > Privacy

In Safari it is a "Prevent " check box

Interesting. I get a list of possible web addresses, with the full link to the last page or topic I was on, as illustrated below. The first suggestion is at least a year old, maybe two and I've not only cleared possibile cookie, data cache, history, etc, but I've visited other spots on the site recently so am not only not sure why the mac has chosen this particular page, but why does anything from that site list at all - since I've cleared it all? This is the issue I'd like to solve. I assumed if I clear all data, nothing should come up as a suggestion until I've traveled anywhere. But that's not the case. I'm not trying to restore my laptop to factory new, just expect "delete history" to delete my history! Thanks again for all the helpful brainstorming...as this baffles me.

Yes, the address bar, or URL bar. I use Duck Duck Go instead of Google on both browsers, and entering in a few letters of the site title will initiate a drop list of similarly lettered addresses - can't remember but I think this is standard in all url bars. I'd like to clear that stored info - but none of the standard data clearing tools are doing this. There is no personal account associated with DDG. Therefore, guessing is possibly a hard drive issue since it's the same issue on both browsers, but no idea, really.

When I enter text into the URL/Search bar, I get offered a list of possible search terms from Google. NOT website addresses.

Below that, I get a list of items from my History that match. I can clear that.

Below that, I get some other options.

Have you changed your default browser for the search bar in Safari? The only choices seem to be Google, Bing or Yahoo. Perhaps one of these is offering you addresses, based on what you type, rather than on any information on your computer.

Hi Old Toad, I´m tracking you down from an archived post back in 2009 regarding ucoz website builder. Sorry to contact you here, but I couldn´t´figure out how to contact you directly (please tell me how).

the thing is that I have a website with ucoz since many years ago (www.automaticas.ucoz.com) and recently completed a 2.0 version of it in iweb, but I couldn´t repace the previous one in ucoz with my new content. I didn´t knew how. So I published it temporarily at dropbox and got a virtual address in dot.tk to simplify its url. Now I have it on line as www.automaticas-ucoz.tk and I want to ask you how to link both with a subdomain or directly replace old with new version at ucoz.com Your help will be highly appreciated. (Thx in advance) Regards Henry
