Has anyone used MC Helper to reset hotmail on their Mac?

Has anyone used MC Helper to reset hotmail on their Mac. I just did and I'm am worried as I gave them access to my computer over the phone. They have solved access to my hotmail account though, but they charged $200 for it plus a years free support. I was very suspicious but in the end went ahead. I now fear that they may be a scam of sorts. They could have implanted or encrypted something on my mac. Is this likely? Does anyone know? I'd be most grateful.

I've supported Microsoft email on the Microsoft forums for 15 years and have never heard of this. The cost of the support is outrageous. I would dispute the charge on your credit card and terminate the service.

MC Helper is for Windows first and foremost. You have a Mac and I cannot see what benefit you can get from it. Suggest you go to your Credit card people and tell them you think you were scammed.

Where, exactly, did you buy this service (if you can a call it that)? It appears to be available from many sites.

Thank you dianeoforegon for this advice. MC Helper was the first item that came up on my google search asking for Hotmail support. I couldn't find any way to ask Microsoft a question let alone speak to someone.

As I said, I am very suspicious but I guess I must have thought them just plausible enough. They did resolve the problem and restore my hotmail account on the one hand and the $200 was supposedly for the fix and a years computer software support. I didnt really want this, just the hotmail back but I guessed you'd pay that amount for a years support anyway.

What I'm most concerned about is that I granted them access to my computer by downloading a piece of software that they sent me and guided me through. They were able to look at my screen and move the mouse etc. How do I know they havent still got access? They claimed the wouldn't after I rebooted. Was this necessary in order to fix a problem remotely like this?

IT WAS CALLED..... Support- LogMeIn Rescue

LogMeIn Rescue is for one time support. This is a common tool used to support users. Microsoft uses it when they do support. I use one of the LogMeIn products myself when working with clients.
