Q: is there a way to add more GB's?

I want to update my computer to OS X Mavericks, but it says I need 2GBs of memory. Is there a way to add more memory in order to update my software?

What Mac model do you have? If it's one of the first two Mac Pros you won't be able to run Mavericks. You can tell what your Mac can run by downloading MacTracker for free from the App Store and looking up your Mac model in it.

Yes. Consult your computer's user manual for more information. Go to sites such as:

OWC
DataMem
Crucial.com

Where you can determine what memory modules to buy and how much RAM you can install.
