Q: SMTP "broken"

I wanted to post this to try and help anyone out there having my "exact" issue. I have been running my own Lion server for a year now with no significant issues...

It wasn't until I applied this update:

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6207?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

That something went terribly wrong. I could no longer recieve or send email. I was using IMAP & SMTP connections. I thought maybe my ISP had blocked port 25 all of a sudden or something. I had not made any changes to the server except for applying the above-mentioned update. What I found was this:

1) My IMAP connections worked... whether using SSL or not - I could login. My connection doctor showed me logged in; however, I could not recieve mail.

2) My SMTP connection failed everytime. It didn't matter what combination I used... SSL / no SSL / Password / MD5 Challenge Response... I could not connect.

I finally looked at my SMTP logs and found this:

server postfix/postscreen [#####]: fatal: non-null host address bits in "127.0.0.1/8", perhaps you should use "127.0.0.0/8" instead.

This was the fix!

I went into my Mail settings in Server Admin and looked at my "Accept SMTP relays only from these hosts and networks:" box. I then made the change mentioned above, and everything began working.

I hope this helps someone... It only took me around
