Mavericks will not download

Unable to download. Keeps coming back with error message 'unable to download' but no error code to give me clue to why this keeps failing

Make sure your Mac can run Mavericks > OS X Mavericks: System Requirements

Disable anti virus softwrare if installed

Make sure the firewall is turned off in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Firewall

For OS X v10.7 and above, make sure Gatekeeper is enabled

Open System Preferences > Security & Privacy then select the General tab.

Make sure either Mac App Store or Mac App Store and identified developers is selected. If that area is grayed out, click the padlock icon to proceed.

OS X: About Gatekeeper

Hi Carolyn,

I see you have addressed this on multiple occasions with many others, however, I am still having difficulty trying to download Mavericks. I am running an imac with 10.6.8 and am meeting all criteria listed for download. However, when in the app store and I hit download, the download button remains and there is no indication I am downloading.

I just completed repairing all disk permissions (its an older computer with little use), removed all firewalls and restarted, yet I can neither update my existing OS nor can I upload the new Mavericks.

I'm confused as to what to do next.
