Can a first generation Apple express extend my wireless network?

I have an Airport Extreme model number A1354 as my base station. My wireless signal does not reach the back of my condo (approx 1200 sq ft). So I'd like to extend my signal with an Airport Express (model A1084). When setting it up to extend my wireless signal, it doesn't give me that option.

Can this Express mod extend my network? If so, how? If not, what's the oldest model I can use to perform this function?
