My ipad randomly one day started to install Simpsons tapped out even though I did not download the app,it will not start to install it just say waiting, nothing else is downloading,I cannot delete the app even though I press the x and click yes when the window pops up, I cannot download any other apps, Simpsons tapped out does not show in my usage-settings or in the App Store as downloading, I cannot open the updates tab in the App Store ,I am unable to update my iOS, this problem frustrates me greatly,I am able to move the app around and drag it, so my ipad does recognise it's there but it still doesn't show,I have tried turning restrictions on and off, I do not want to reset my ipad, and I have not synced my ipad to a computer, mainly because I do not have one.

Wow, thank u!!! I was about to do what the 1st guy recommended... to restart and/or reset, but decided to look thru the rest of the answers to this problem 1st.

I just got a new iPhone 7 Plus. After updating to iOS 10.3.3 & just finishing a restore from a back-up of the data from my iPhone 6s Plus, I had one issue.

There was just ONE app (Loan Calculator for iPhone) that was about 2/3's finished downloading. As a result, there was a small spinning circle icon in the upper left corner of the screen...for the past couple days.

I couldn't open the app (obviously), holding the icon down w/o releasing there was a sub-menu where I could pause the download (or restart) but that couldn't / wouldn't work.

I tried to delete it the usual way (holding down till it jiggles, hit X, & confirm), but that didn't work. Yet after all this time, the spinning circle was STILL spinning, whether it was plugged into my computer / iTunes or not...even after restarting the iPhone.

I tried your method, but since I m possibly using a newer iOS version (the LAST verse of iOS 10 (10.3.3) b4 iOS 11), it was under a different name / location.

It was Settings > General > Storage & iCloud Useage > Manage Storage > & then find the app name.

Once I found the app, I hit the arrow (>) to the right of the storage size in MB, then hit Delete App. That worked flawlessly & permanently deleted the app.

I then went to iTunes (App Store app) on my iPhone, found the app, downloaded it again, which it did successfully this time, then opened the app to confirm. Everything was just "hunkey dorey" with no issues!

Anyway, thanx so much for the tip!!! If a one else has this priblem, I would suggest using this method 1st b4 trying the more time-consuming method of restarting and/or resetting.

Hi Frustratedannon!

I completely understand your frustration regarding these issues. Allow me to suggest a couple of things that may help lessen your frustration and resolve some issues. First, you should look to see if you have Automatic Downloads activated on your iPad (it could explain why the Simpsons game would have showed up on your iPad out of the blue):

iTunes Store: How to enable Automatic Downloads

In order to actually get rid of the Simpsons app or finish downloading it, you may need to try turning off your iPad, then turning it back on. You also may need to try a reset, which is a simple power cycle procedure that does not affect your data on your iPad. Both of these steps are explained in the following article:

Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
