Can't launch .jar file

I'm currently running Mac OS X 10.9.2 and cannot seem to install an SAP GUI that worked on my previous macbook pro (older OS, I think it was Mountain Lion).

I've downloaded the latest Java (version 7 update 55) and am attempting to launch the same .jar file that I used to install last time but simply get an "application is not responding" message and "Microkernel" in the menu bar.

Any help or suggestions are appreciated. I'm not a programmer so your patience is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

i think your problem about advanced setting on Java Control Panel.

try this : open system preferences > java (and java control panel will open in another window) > click Advanced Tab and look your setting on it. Try to make your setting same with me.

Debugging - uncheck all

Java console - check Hide Console

Shorcut creation - check Prompt user if hinted

JNLP File/MIME Association - check Prompt user

Application installation - check Install if hinted

Secure execution environment - check all except the last

Mixed code (sandboxed vs trusted) security verification - check Enable - show warning if needed

Perform certificate revocation checks on - check All certificates in the chain of trust

Check forcertificate revocation using - check Both CRLs and OCSP

Advanced scurity settings - check number 1,2,3,5,6

Miscellaneous - uncheck

In theory and Apple seem to imply this, one should only need to install the latest Java which is as you listed Version 7 release 55. However my experience is that one still needs to first install Apple's old version 6 and then immediately after install version 7. Version 6 can be downloaded from the following page

I think as you have already installed version 7 all you need to do is install the above and all should be ok. I would run the above installer and then go to the Java test page on the Oracle website.

If it reports the wrong version (it should report version 7) or does not work reinstall version 7 after version 6.
