Photos print out green

My system:

G4 Mac Mini 1.33 Ghz/1 GB RAM
HP PSC-1350 all-in-one inkjet printer
OS 10.4.7
iPhoto 6.0.4

I printed out some photos this evening, and for some reason, they all have a weird green tint to them. Almost like someone added a green Photoshop layer to them. The problem occurs if I'm using either the regular color ink cartridge (HP 57) or the photo ink cartridge (HP 58). My photos are fine when I view them on the monitor. The problem only happens when printing them out. I've tried printing with both iPhoto and HP Photosmart Studio. But the result is the same. I also ran the Colorsync utility, and the problem still remains. I have tried printing on regular white paper as well as HP photo paper and there is no difference. I did a Google search and I also searched this forum. I couldn't find any specific solution to this problem. I'd appreciate any advice that anyone may have.

I still think it's your printer...

Why don't you try to print a document created in text edit or some other word type app... if it prints green then the problem is either in printer (I would buy fresh ink) or the lines of communication between printer and Mini...

Hi there,

I would first suspect the printer. Have you checked your ink levels... low levels will cause issues similar to yours. You can probably run some kind of diagnostic prints and or print a test page...

My photos printed out green tonight. I found out my printer nozzels needed to be cleaned. After the first cleaning, and the first printout of the results, I mistakenly thought they were fine. Tried printing out photos again, green again!

Cleaned the nozzles again, printed out the bar of colored boxes, noticed the last box, a dusty pink color, had been missing from the first attempt and printout. I wasn't observant enough.

Cleaned the nozzles three more times, again looking at a nozzle check printout each time.

Finally, the photos printed out just right. Have your printer clean the nozzles on the printer. I hope that will fix it for you.

I don't think its the printer because I have the same problem with an epson, it doesnt happen all the time.

My ink levels are at 80% or higher. And I ran my printer's "clean" application, which is supposed to clean the heads of the ink cartridges. But everything still prints out green. Thanks for the tip, though.

You can open the photo in Preview and print form there. That will confirm Dave's theory or not. Drag the photo from iPhoto to the desktop and open with Preview.

I changed my photo ink cartridge on my photosmart 7550. Problem fixed
