FaceTime won't connect

Using Mavericks 10.9.2 and my Apple ID to try and use Facetime. There is no question regarding my Apple ID and password and from there don't no where to look. I did set up the Firewall to allow Facetime - not so sure that made any difference.

Suggestions please? (I couldn't find where else to post Facetime questions)

So I have forwarded ports and read the rest of the 'link' material and still coming up 'can't sign in'.

I have a bright idea that has hounded me in the past on a couple of other issues and that is .... I wonder if the sign in process here is looking for a serial number for authorization?

This is a MacBook Pro circa 2007 and sometime around 2009 my logic board went south. The guy who replaced it said he would re-serialize it .... but didn't. Short story is I have no serial number on this computer. Wondering too if it's possible to get it serialized some how?
