Q: MAC PRO    OS UPGRADE ISSUES FROM SNOW LEPOARD

I have a Mac Pro with serial # G872949JUPZ, I have 2 - dual core 2.66 xeon processing w/ 2 gb ram, running snow lepoard 10.6.8, why cant I upgrade to a newer OS

    Your computer doesn't have a 64-bit EFI and therefore can't be upgraded past Lion 10.7.5. If desired, click here and order a download code for Lion.

     

    Back up your data before upgrading. Mac OS X 10.7 and newer don't support PowerPC programs such as versions of Microsoft Office prior to 2008.

    Thanks Niel. Can you tell that I only have 32 bit EFI from my serial #? When I look online at searches it looks like I would have 32/64 from what I can tell. Trying to figure out if I can upgrade to 64 bit or if Im restricted because of my board.

    Google for that info. I've heard it can be done, but Apple would frown upon it being discussed here.
