Comcast set-up Administrator password issues

I'm switching over to Comcast and got the self install kit yesterday. Popped the CD into my Mini and the wizard started up. At first it installs Internet Explorer (uggh) and then before allowing my to set up my accounts (i.e. email addresses, login name) it asks for my Admin password. I put it in, it bounces back and says it's wrong.

Huh? I know what my password is...So I pull up the system preferences panel sides by side with the IE window and change my password to 1234, confirm it with OS X, type it into the IE window...error...incorrect.

Called Comcast and their incredibly helpful level one tech support was clueless and swore I had to be typing it in wrong. After 30 minutes with him, he gave up and said I needed to call Apple. I said, dude, this is not an Apple problem...I have changed my password 3 times and your application is not recognizing any of them.

So fine, I ask "Can you just give me the direct URL to set up my account to create my email and logins?"
He pauses..puts me on hold...comes back, "sorry, there's no way to do that, you have to do it with the CD".
I said "you're kidding me, there is no other way for either you or me to set up my account except with this non-working application?"

He said yes, I promptly hung up on him.

BTW....all this time, I had a live internet connection with Comcast in the background, I just could not establish my email accounts.

So I whipped out my work Dell, stuck in the CD, plugged in the network cable and voila, their application worked just fine, got my emails set up and I'm done.

This does not bode well for Comcast and their support of Mac users.

You don't need to install any software to use your Mac with Comcast. In fact, it would be a good idea to run Disk Utility to repair permissions.

Just set your Mac up to use DHCP and you should be all set.

And, to be fair, the same is true of the Dell. Never put a CD from a cable company in your computer. I would trust warez downloaded over P2P before that - seriously.
