Continue to play iTunes after closing MacBook Pro

I recently got my MacBook Pro, and I was speachless when I found that when I closed my laptop that my music would continue to play. I would walk around campus playing music with a closed laptop-it was great. But then I needed to restart my computer, and after the reboot this function was disabled somehow. How can I get this feature active again? I really want to know.
Thanks.

I think your machine just flaked out for whatever reason. It is not supposed to do that. You can disable sleep while the lid is closed with software such as InsomniaX.

However, I must warn you that use of this software is dangerous. You are not supposed to use the machine this way. In theory, you can use it while the lid is closed when connected to an external monitor, keyboard, and mouse. So, software like InsomniaX might be OK.

I am positive that you do not want to keep your Mac in a bag while doing this. It would definitely overheat and cause damage. Considering how much a replacement MacBook Pro will cost, perhaps you should consider an iPod instead.
