My updates have been uploading for a day!?

I have a Macbook pro late 2008, I was updating the computer yesterday, the front row updated, but the MAC OS X Update Combined 10.5.8 and iTunes is just swinging around for a day now is this normal.

Hard drive capacity 250 GB and Memory 4GB Processor speed is 2.4 Ghz Dual Core. Bus speed 1066 MHz

Can anyone please help, what do I do next?

Thanks in advance

I've requested the serial number be removed from your signature. It could pose possible identity theft problems if left in the open. I determined you have a 15" model from this link:

How full is the hard drive?

What type of internet connection do you have?

Do you have any software that is not 10.6 compatible?

Before updating to 10.7 or later, read this tip:

They woke up...... lol

Ok I am going to read the document you sent over and see how I get on, the also how can you tell how fast internet is? I just got a app which says

Ping = 97 MS

Download = 1.46 Mps

Upload = 0.80 Mbps

How would I check software although I dont think there is anything on the system really, but would need to check for sure.

My updates have been uploading for a day!?
