bluetooth call quality - distortion (iphone 5s)

I'm using an iPhone 5s with the LG HBS730 (Tone+). I'm having problems with the audio quality during phone calls with this headset - using the handset or speaker phone is fine, and music sounds great on the headset. I would describe it as sounding distorted like speakers being played too loudly or blown out, but this distortion is present at all volumes levels with the headset. The problem is less present when someone speaks softly.

I do not have trouble controlling the volume of the headset, unlike some other users have reported - the controls are very responsive.

I've tried re-pairing the headset and the phone - nothing changed. This was also a problem under iOS 7.0.4 - i tried upgrading, hoping the issue would be fixed.

iPhone 5s, iOS 7.1.1

Try the headset with a different phone and also try a different headset with this phone.

Sometimes it's just a weird combo of headset and phone that causes issues.

exactly same problem with sony SBH80, distortion calling and great quality listening music...hoping iOS update too...

I have the distortion/crackling/popping with non-music, non-voice sounds (game sounds) on my Sony SBH80. Is it a Mac thing?

I have the same poor sound with my iPhone 5s iOS 7.1.2 And the sbh80 headset. Tested with iPhone 4 iOS 6.0.1 and sound quality is excellent. Also tested with Sony Xperia S with excellent sound. hope it can be fixed with a iOS upgrade soon.

No this is totally an apple hardware issue. I have the same problem with my HBS730. It worked fine under iOS7, but ever since upgrading to iOS8 the in-call (and only the in-call) audio has been distorted as ****.

I have the same problem even upgrade with the last version of Yosemite 10.10.3, and with others Apple's devices like iPhone 6 and iPad mini 2 with iOS 8.3

I think Dabbaranks means "an Apple thing" not a "Mac thing" - referring to the iPhone being the issue.
