USB Key (Imation 4GB) freezes all Macs
Heya
I got 2 USB keys (4GB Imation http://www.imation.co.uk/products/flashdevices/flash4gb.html ) and they have been causing major headaches (and wonton destruction actually)
With my PowerMac Dual G5, attached to front USB port, and 2 different PowerBook 12inch (one 1.33Ghz, and one 1.5Ghz) all with 10.4.7, it causes Finder FREEZE after a minute it is inserted, and in the case of the 1.5Ghz 12inch, after 5 minutes, it cause a KERNEL PANIC.
Afaik, with 10.4.6 there were no problems (I only remember using it a few times before 10.4.7 came out and I had no problems)
I insert the drive, it mounts, and after a minute or so, the Finder hangs. Sometimes, if I remove it, everything goes back to normal, but mostly, I get a TOTAL SYSTEM FREEZE (only way is to cold reboot).
I managed once to reformat one of the USB drives into HFS+ Journaled and it still hung.
I used it with a dozen other PCs and never had a problem.
