First, it might be a good idea to see what is using up your storage. Sometimes old backups are not needed and they take up a good deal of space. A quick way to check is Settings>General>Usage>Manage Storage
From here you'll see a listing of backups (I have, for example three - one for the iPhone and two iPads), documents and data, etc. You can decide what you want to keep and delete others. Or increase storage to a higher level.

iCloud storage and phone storage are two different things. You can't add storage to your phone. You need to delete something to get more space on your phone.
Agreed. But I think the message is Hinnabear added storage to iCloud. While the message does not contain much info, I think iCloud sounds full and backups and some data is stored in iCloud to allow for syncing across devices. Perpahs Hinnabear can add more info about the problem.

Thanks, after I posted that, I had second thoughts that it might be something else. Since we posted at the same time, your first post wasn't there yet. We will just have to see if we get any updates.
