My comp stopped playing quicktime downloads. It says " not a movie file" Has this happened to anyone else? If so are there any solutions?
Which OS X is installed on your Mac ?
Click the Apple () menu top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac.
The version is noted there.
Troubleshooting advice can depend on that information.

Where are you downloading files from?
websites.....files from my company. Any video clip i try and open it says this
To see if additional software is available that will enable QuickTime Player to open the movie, click Tell Me More.
then i click tell me more and it sends me here
Ok... right or control click the media file you are downloading then click Get Info
Make sure it's a compatible QuickTime format.

For the format of the file you downloaded. Apparently it's not QuickTime compatible.
