I have purchased a tv show in itunes and downloaded it to my mac mini but when I try playing it in itunes or quicktime, I just get sound and a grey screen. However, if I stream it from my itunes on the mac mini to the itunes on my mac book air, it plays fine.
Any ideas?

I had exactly this. The fix that worked for me was:
Try this with the TV plugged in and on:
Resetting the PRAM.
1. Shut down the computer.
2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need them in step 4.
3. Turn on the computer.
4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts.
6. Release the keys.
