May 10, 2014 12:48 PM in response to Kenny282by K Shaffer,If you were to - say, need to single click a folder to change the name
or to Get Info - then a 'single tap' on the Touch Pad can do that. To
locate a place in a document, a 'single tap' should do that, too.
However some variables in use may be different than expected yet
not be outside of the realm of how it was designed to be used.
If there is a possible issue in how you find it working, and you then
suspect a hardware issue, if yours is a MacBook with removable
battery, check to see if the battery has swollen or leaking, and if so
remove the battery; then seek a replacement. An Apple Store genius
can be seen by appointment in those with Genius bar, they also may
help with Trackpad issue, do a diagnostic test, & replacement battery
in models where batteries aren't user-removable. Genius: diagnostic.
Good luck

May 10, 2014 1:23 PM in response to K Shafferby K Shaffer,PS: part of what I'd said, isn't quite right IF the sensitivity is
acting up. One of my portables acted oddly with the trackpad
sensitivity issue, the other didn't. So a single touch isn't likely
to allow certain actions; at least not among all my models!
So there may be nothing wrong with an older model not
performing new tricks when they aren't supposed to...
