Have you tried it in the second USB port?

Have you tried it with another computer to see if
it's the keypad itself?

Does the documentation say with which versions of OS
X it is compatible?

Does your iBook meet the minimum hardware
requirements of the keypad?

hi.

Thank for the fast reply. Here are the answers:

Does not work in the other USB port
It works on my PC
Documentation says USB Mac compatable with a blue MAc logo
Hardware requirement says Mac 8.6 or later and I am on 10.2.8
Thoughts?

Well, sticking with you doesn't help you much if there are no answers.

Upon checking, I find this web page which documents exactly what you have said:
http://www.megamacs.com/v1/index.php?action=view&pid=3232699&D=1

The keypad first became available on Amazon in 2003, well after OS X was released. Everything I can find says it should work, so I don't have the answer. I'm sorry.

You have a PC, too, so I guess you aren't too put out about going that route, but I so much prefer OS X over Windows (having tried Windows twice) that I couldn't bear to switch, myself. Have you checked out the features in Tiger? Very nice. And Leopard, due out next spring, promises to be better yet. With me, it's all about the OS, and even though I know it's harder to find peripherals that are compatible, it's worth it to put up with that, in my case, in favor of the Mac operating system.

I can't help but think that it's a problem within the keypad itself, since other devices work with the USB ports on the iBook.

There should be two oblong buttons above each reply to your posts. They are marked "Helpful" or "Solved." You click on the appropriate button and follow the instructions on the resulting page.

I'm sorry we couldn't figure out a solution. Let me see if I can find someone else with experience with numeric keypads that work for them with a Mac.

It's not exactly the solution you want, but a regular Mac USB keyboard which has its own keypad would be a workable, if rather awkward, substitute.

Jeff,

You just aren't seeing them. Your question is marked as such, and it shows that it is unanswered.

The buttons are not colored. They are not obviously buttons. They appear just to the left of the "Reply" link. They appear on posts other than your own within a topic you have originated any time you have not checked the box to "unmark as a question" (which you have not done, since your topic is designated as a question in the list of topics). You must be logged in to have the "Helpful" and "Solved" buttons available to you.
