s-video to firewire

s-video to firewire

I have a Samsung camcorder HI-8 with a composit/s-video out. Is there an Apple device that can convert this to input into my firewire port?

I'm aware of some USB devices that do this but I'd like to use firewire.

iBook G4, Mac OS X (10.4.7), iPod G4, Sony MD, Boss BR-532 Digital Studio, Apex 430 Large Diaphram condenser

Hello Q_Ball,

You cannot convert composit/s-video (an analog signal) to digital format on the fly through any cable that I know of.

The same thing applies to VHS tape conversion: analog signal that needs to be converted to a digital format before it can be used in the digital world, such as DVD recording.

I use the DAC-100 for converting old VHS (and other sources) into digital format so they can be used in DVD productions.

Thanks. That is awesome! Wish it was about $100.00 less though. lol It's $299.00 Canadian. (What's that, about $40.00 American? lol)

There are less expensive converters out there, just try a Google. Or eBay is an alternate source:

Too bad you don't have a bunch of home video VHS tapes to justify the purchase.
