Q: I am a light user of my iMac running OS 10.8 thinking of upgrading

I am a light user of iMac running OS 10.8. I only use Mail, Safari, iPhoto and Pages, I am thinking of getting Microsoft Office in order to share files more easily. I have already upped the memory to 8Mb. What are advantages for me of updating to Mavericks? AND will Apple continue to support iWorks?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.2)

You would have to upgrade iphoto, but the old iworks will run. For a light user, I dont see the benefit of upgrading until such time 10.8 is no longer serviced with security updates. 10.8 with 8GB will be better than before.

One option is to create a new partition (~30- 50 GB), install Mavericks, and ‘test drive’ it. If you like/don’t like it it, you can then remove the partition. Do a backup before you do anything.
