Airport Express join Netgear R7000?

I have been trying to get my Airport Express 802.11n (MC414LL/A) to join my Netgear Nighthawk R7000 essentially as an Ethernet bridge and been somewhat unsuccessful. Details of my setup are the SSIDs are hidden on both the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands, secured using WPA2-PSK [AES], and I have timed access set up on the 2.4 GHz band as a parental control. All goes well (green LED) until the first instance where timed access shuts off and then it turns to a flashing amber and never reconnects even when the timed access opens the 2.4 GHz band back up. It takes a full reset and restore through the Airport Utility to get it back. I've tried this on both the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands - same results even though the 5 GHz is set to never shut down. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Happens to me as well.

Brand new NHR7000 and 2 different Airport Express (2009).

First connection goes green, but when the night hawk gets restarted, i've got the flashing amber.

Upon multiple restarts, it finally connects back again, but it's kinda bothersome to do this all the times.

I thought it was some interference of my Airport Extreme (connected to the Airport Express), because at first the Express was connecting only if I shutted down the Extreme. Today tough, I could connect back even with the Airport Extreme operating.

I am having similar issues, although i can't even get the airport expresses (i have 2 - one 1st gen and one 2nd gen) to stay on the wifi. I am trying to set mine up as simply remote itunes speakers. I plug them inpt the netgear router over ethernet for configuration and that goes well. I unplug the ethernet cable and the light stays green (does that mean its working?) and they show up in the Netgear devices list as being on the network, but i can't connect to them (doing a rescan) with the Airport Utility. Once i unplug/replug in the Airport Expresses they show flashing amber and they are no longer showing up as on wifi and the Aiprot Utility can't find them. It sounds like you all have gotten further than I have? I have tried both the 2.4GHz and the 5GHz networks. Did you change the "mode" to move to something other than "up to 289" (for 2.4GHz) and "up to 1300" for 5GHz?
