help - how to connect to ISDN line

Hi

I've just made the switch from PC to an iMac. I've also moved from a super fast ADSL Internet connection in Hong Kong to an area in Italy where I can only get an ISDN connection.

The phone people put an ISDN line in my house - there are two larger sockets on the box they put on the wall(sorry don't know the technical name) which take the same cable connection as the one on the back of the iMac (I guess for ASDL but unfortunately there is no ASDL available where I live) and two smaller sockets for a regular phone line.

I tried connecting directly to the back of the imac from the larger connections but no connection was recognised by the computer. So I got a friend to send me the USB mac modem from Hong Kong - and connected to the smaller socket - this works but the connection is 56k max and I have a 128k ISDN line.

I've searched the forums for help and there are some discussions with people asking for advice on how to connect to ISDN in Germany but no real solutions up there - the best adviced I've read is to go to the local mac dealer - well there are no mac dealers within 3 hours drive and I also have the problem of not speaking Italian (yet!)

Can anyone help a person who will have to give up using the internet as it is painfully slow using 56k and I hope it might be bearable if I can get 128k - please

Thanks for any replies...Kevan
