convert pages doc to 6x9 pdf

The most popular book format is 6X9 and if you want to publish such a book you will probably use one of the online vendors who requires that you upload you document in PDF format. When you convert a pages (or Word) document to a PDF frequently the 6X9 format will change to 81/2X11 format in your PDF. To solve this problem, go to System Preferences, select Printers and Scanners and when the dialogue box appears go to the bottom right hand corner and change Default Paper Size to 6X9 which will automatically be saved when you close the preferences box. Now go back and Export your document as a PDF. The PDF will now be in 6X9 format. When you finish with this task simply go page to System Preferences and change the Default Paper Size back to Letter or whatever you wish. The procedure is also required if you are using Word.

You have confused yourself.

You are not talking about 'The default size" you are simply talking about the set size for the document, which is whatever you make it. A4. US Letter, B5, or custom sizes.

It doesn't change to anything else "automatically" when you print it, it is whatever you have in Page Setup… > PaperSize: in Pages or whatever application you may be using.

It does what it says, Sets the Page up for printing: Size, Orientation, selected Printer, Scale etc.

Manage Custom Sizes… is at the bottom of the list to create your own sizes.
