since most recent OS X10.9.2 update cannot get epson NX430 to scan

since most recent OS X10.9.2 update cannot get epson NX430 scanner function to work, still prints with out a problem. in system preferences the NX430 is recognized as both the printer and scanner. have re-downloaded and installed Espon drivers (tho are dated 11-13 when everything still worked fine)

scanner error message is "An error occurred while communicating with the scanner." have noticed on Nx 430 scanner menu selection screen (not the window on my Mac) only usb is shown as a connection type for scan to PC, tho the wiFi light is on indicating it is connected, all areas rated "Pass" in NX430 network connection check. Prior to this problem, the scanner window on my Mac just opened and did an overview scan without my having to select anything on the NX430 menu.

any ideas to get the scanner working again would be greatly apprciated!

I recceived these instructions from Epson. I can now scan using the Epson Scan application (downloaded from Epson) I am still receiving the same connection error when I try to use the scan option after opening Epson Stylus NX430:

"To update Epson Scan, do the following:

  1. Go to the Epson main support page, select your product, then Drivers & Downloads.
  2. Select Drivers, then Scanner Driver and EPSON Scan Utility.
  3. Click Download and follow the on-screen instructions to install Epson Scan. "

"How to Set Up Epson Scan Settings

Launch Epson Scan Settings. (these were in an Epson folder under Applications)

Note: If you see a message that Epson Scan cannot be started, click No to the message(s).

Make sure the product is selected as the scanner.

If the product is set up on a network, print a network status sheet, then check the Connection and Network Scanner Address settings in Epson Scan Settings.

If the Connection setting is set to Network and your scanner appears under Network Scanner Address with the correct IP address, your settings are correct and you can skip the remaining steps.

If either of these settings is incorrect, make sure the Connection setting is set to Network and continue with the next step.

Click Add. The Add window appears.

Make sure Search for address is selected, then select the IP address that appears.

Note:

It may take a few moments for the IP address to appear. If more than one IP address appears, be sure to select the one that matches your product's IP address.

If you have a firewall or Internet security software installed, the search feature may not work correctly. In this case, click Enter address, and enter the IP address manually.

Click OK as necessary to save your changes and exit Epson Scan Settings.

Try scanning from your Mac then try scanning from the unit itself."
