Error downloading my image on iPhoto?

I upload videos to iPhoto on a regular basis. They're normally 10 minutes or longer. Its worked perfectly for me for almost 2 years, then all of a sudden I go into iPhoto and do exactly what I normally do and it tells me that it has a problem downloading the image. I tried to just import the video directly from iMovie and it doesn't even show up. Then I tried going to file and importing it there and it shows up and takes around 10 minutes to import, but its no where to be found. How can I fix this? I film on a Canon camera, and upload to my computer using an SD card.
