Apple LiGothic Medium.dfont gone?

Apple LiGothic Medium.dfont gone?

It seems the following font is gone from my system - Apple LiGothic Medium.dfont. How can find it and re-download it? I have a document that used the font (a system font). When I look in the system/library/fonts I can't find it and spotlight say's it's not there.

G4, Mac OS X (10.4.7)

It normally should be in Macintosh HD/System/Library/Fonts/ If it truly is gone, you'll probably have to do an Archive and Install preserving Users and Network settings.

Was the document in Chinese? That is the only thing this font is used for.

I don't agree that the Apple LiGothic Medium is only for Chinese documents. I can use it in AppleWorks for American English documents.

Yes, it can be used for English, but the only reason it is in the OS is for Chinese, and I'd recommend it not be used for other languages.

Hello haasfilm,

There's no need to go through an entire Archive and Install to get your fonts back. Read my article, Font Management in Mac OS X Tiger and Panther. At the bottom, it explains how to restore all, or any individual fonts you want from the OS Install disks.
