Captions disappearing from iPhoto on iPad

iPad 3

iOS 7

all apps updated

I keep adding captions to a photostream (created on Photos) and the captions keep disappearing. The tags remain, no problem. And some of the stream that I have created kept the captions. But on others, I go through the process of adding captions, go to the home screen, come back to iPhoto and eccola! No captions.

Can anyone help? On a trip to visit family in Italy, will take a lot of photos to transfer to Aperture when I return and would like to keep descriptions -- too old to remember it all. :-)

Thank you all.

How exactly are you doing this, Scott? I don't see "captions" in the "Photos.app", when adding photos to a photo stream.

Are you adding photos to a shared Photo Stream and using the "comment" field, when posting the photo?

These comments will be visible in Aperture, when clicking the speech bubble on the shared photo. And you will see them in the Photos.app below the photos in the stream. But iPhoto on your iPad does not show the comments, only the captions you add in iPhoto. To transfer iPhoto captions, save the photo to the Camera roll after adding the caption. Then the photo with caption will appear in My Photo Stream.

Thank you. I was adding captions, then not seeing them when I opened up the folder. I saw them in the "Tags" grouping of photos. I tried to make a slide show project from the same photos with captions, but the captions didn't show on the slide show. Perhaps the captions are there for the people I invite to share the slide show.

I assume there would be no problem keeping them when I return home and export them to Aperture projects.

Thank you again. I appreciate the time it takes to respond to questions like this.

When you import to Aperture by connecting your iPhone to USB, then Aperture will import from the Camera Roll and not from iPhoto. Anything you edit or do in iPhoto needs to be saved to the Camera Roll, if the edits and tags shall be visible in Aperture.
