Q: Alerts have no sound - They come in but are silent.  No vibes as well

iPhone 5, Microphone works...  Alerts going out when messages, texts etc, are sent make the appropriate sonunds, but I have no sounds when I receive texts, phone calls etc.  What's up with that?

iPhone 5, iOS 7.1.1

    Hello asphd,

After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help in this situation. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice concerning sound and alert issues:

iOS: Understanding sounds, ringtones, and alerts

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5800

    • iPhone's Ring/Silent switch and iPad's Side Switch do not mute audio playback, such as from music, podcasts, videos, and games.
    • You can also use the Do Not Disturb setting to silence calls, alerts, and notifications.
    • Clock alarms still sound the alert through the built-in speaker when your device is in silent mode.

If these steps yield no results, you may want to review the following article for troubleshooting a potential hardware issue:
