I currently using safari 5.1.7, can I install the security update 2014-002 without going to safari 6.1.3

I'm worried about security issues but I do not like Safari 6.1.3. Is my Mac vulnerable without the update or can I install just the security update?

The latest version for v10.7 Lion for Safari is 5.1.7. Better to not revert. The most recent software is the most secure.

For any available updates, cliick Software Update from your Apple  drop down menu.

If any security updates are avaiallble, they'll be listed under Updates at the App Store.

Make sure Gate Keeper is enabled.

Open System Preferences > Security & Privacy then select the General tab.

Make sure either Mac App Store or Mac App Store and identified developers is selected. If that area is grayed out, click the padlock icon to proceed.

Thanks, I don't want to revert. Apple update is continually trying to get me to install Safari 6.1.3 as well as the security update 2014-002. I do not want to install these updates as I like Safari 5.1.7. I have worked with Safari 6.1.3 and do not like the changes that were made in it. I just wanted to make sure that my computer was protected from recent security issues with out having to update to 6.1.3.

Make a suitable backup, so that you can easily revert, then install the security update. It doesn't include Safari 6, and the requirements shown at http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1738 are simply having OS X 10.7.5

Your Mac is still comparatively vulnerable with or without the update, since Safari 5.1.7 & the various supporting software used by other applications was last updated 2 years ago.
