FCP X 10.1.1 trial doesn't even launch properly...

Have there been a lot of reports of FCP X 10.1.1 hanging when launching?

I downloaded the trial on my Mac Pro, launched it and force quit it three minutes later when the busy cursor never disappeared.

Everything else on my Mac Pro (including FCP 7) works perfectly.

I have demoed past versions of FCP X, could they have left around cruft that made 10.1.1 fly off into the weeds?

Mac Pro (Mid 2010), OS X Mavericks (10.9.2), 3.33 GHz 6-Core Xeon, 24 GB RAM

That would be bad; I use FCS7 daily, I just wanted to try FCP X 10.1.1 to see if its usable (for me) yet.

It's looking more and more like I'll just stick with FCS7 until some future OS update finally kills it.

Did that, but unless FCP X normally takes more than five minutes to become usable, there's still something wrong.

(Basically it launches quickly but I get the spinning beach ball for at least five minutes, at which time I Force Quit it and the "Force Quit Applications" window reports FCP X is "Not Responding.")

Like Al, I have multiple installations of FCP X - in my case three OS versions - with FCS coexisting nicely on each.

Go into you Home account library/Application Support/FinalCut Pro and trash the Layouts folder. When you launch the app the folder will be rebuilt. If that works it should open completely in under a minute the first time and much faster thereafter.

Redownloaded the trial and all is good now, so perhaps it just didn't install properly the first time; strange.
