May 15, 2014 7:21 AM in response to The Closemanby sheila_m.,Hello The Closeman,
Thank you for the details of what you’re trying to achieve. It sounds like you would like to have the same setting that are on the user account on your computer appear on your wife’s computer. I have a couple of suggestions that may help with this.
If you are just trying to transfer your settings, desktop picture, and documents over to your wife’s MacBook Pro, you may want to consider using Migration Assistant for this. With Migration Assistant, you can choose to transfer just your user account when selecting information to transfer:
Once you transfer the account, you can log into your own account on your wife’s computer. It is important to note that with this method, any changes you make on your computer or your wife’s computer after the migration will not show up on the other system. Find more information about Migration Assistant in the following links:

Alternatively, if you are using iCloud and running OS X Lion v10.7.5 or later on both computers, you can use Back to My Mac to access your computer from your wife’s computer. The following article has additional information on setting up Back to My Mac:

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
Best,
Sheila M.
