Iphone 5 32GB white bought in Bangkok. Serial number color mis-match. serial number says should be black

I just bought an Iphone 5 32GB from MBK in Bangkok Thailand. Known for selling fakes. This phone was sealed and feels and looks and functions as good as my other iphone 5 I have had for 2 years..It was cheaper than one with Thailand warranty because it comes with no warranty. These are supposed to be imported directly from USA, Korea , Singapore or Hong Kong and are probably old stock now. The issue I can't solve is that it is a 32GB white but the serial number checks out as a 32GB BLACK! In all the websites I have checked, the serial number says the same thing. The box says it is white and model MD636LL/A . The websites also say that this model should be an AT&T orderded Iphone 5 32GB BLACK . The white one is supposed to have the code MD637LL/A. So something is not right of course. Apple would not make those mistakes. But the phone, to the best of everything I have checked, is the real thing. Any ideas out there on what's going on? its been driving me nuts.

It's also quite possible that it was hacked to unlock it from AT&T and will lock back to them when you next restore or update the operating system. That the box was sealed means nothing, since it's easy to reseal a box. You bought a used iPhone that was repaired or otherwise altered and which may have any number of issues and problems.

This is the sort of risk you take when you buy from unauthorized sources.

updated IOS, stayed unlocked and used 2 different SIM cards from 2 local networks. Works fine, Battery life better than my other one too. In another thread on a related topic, another member said it is likley to be a refurbished phone but when refurbished, they put on a white cover instead of the black. Seems to be a reasonable explanation and best so far

And I want to add that i think if there were functional/ technical problems with the phone, they would have shown up by now as I have used almost every app, every function, facetime, hotspot etc etc and all works fine. I also read in another thread and on other forums that refurbished phones go through a fairly regorous quality check to prove out any fixes. Of course i would not have a clue who refurbished it but its a credible option.
