iPad last known location

Hi everybody,

It is very hard for an person to believe that Apple does not implement basic application patterns, such as action logging, in apps such as find iPhone (even though is understandable that it wants you to buy more iPads instead of finding your own, which in my case it is not going to happen if Apple refuses to help me find my own devide). Having that in mind, I really need to know the last known location of my iPad (I have its serial number, it is associated with my list of apple's registered products and of course I have the receipt) so that I can take the necessary measures to recover it since the find iPhone app says it is offline for weeks now.

Thanks for any help you can give me!

Gilson

If the iPad was running iOS 7, the thief/finder will not ever be able to use it.

Apple (and no one else) can not assist (with serial number or iCloud) in finding a lost or stolen iPad.

Report to police along with serial number. Change all your passwords.

If you don't know your lost/stolen iPad's serial number, use the instructions below. The S/N is also on the iPad's box.

Check the serial number (located on back/bottom) in this lost/stolen iPad database. However, most owners are not aware of this database and don’t enter the serial number.

Also do a search, using the serial number, on your local Craig’s List. Some users list the serial number of a stolen iPad to thwart the sale of a stolen device.

Lost my iPad mini 4g somewhere some time in the last month. Yet as I travel all the time and have multiple houses I was sure I left it in my apartment or office. Yet I seemed to be wrong. Now "find my I iPhone" app which has all my devices registered can't tell me the last location. As myself I'm a Apple fan, yet the non logging policy makes me really want to switch for an other vendor like xiaomi. We are paying way above premium with everything that Apple pushes into the market. At these prices you might think a "find my device" service logs the last location... HUGE NO NO for Apple here!

For Find My to register the location of a device, the device must be turned on and connected to the internet...the system does not maintain records of where every device is for later call-up by users.

Apple does not assist in locating devices without a court order for legal reasons.

If the device has been off-line for weeks, there is nothing anyone can do to help locate it.

To a regular user is very hard to buy that "...the system does not maintain records of where every device is for later call-up by users...", imagine for an app architect such as myself! Action logging is something really basic implemented on any app wordwide, I bet that is not different in the find my iPhone application!

I do not understand what is the problem that prevents Apple from helping locating a device that it knows it is owned by a person (just look at the serial number and associated apple id). I guess it is greedy to lead the mobile devices marketing (and this is NOT the way to go Apple) - there is not other reason why the last known location of a device is not available for the device owner.

As an Apple fun I can tell that I am really frustrated with this situation. I am start considering moving out of this brand because of lack of good will for helping customers solving issues as simple as this one!

Although it may not be your belief but Privacy concerns are not a "Simple problem"

Apple has done a good job of supplying a tool for use by end users just for this type of circumstance but your device being offline is not their problem.

Good luck with your new vendor of devices as they all have similar diparity and concerns around end user privacy.

Perhaps Send Last Known Location is a new feature that they implemented in the last few years to address this, but I am also trying to find an iPad, and the battery has died. It turns out according to Apple today...just now...that the last known location is only shown for 24 hours... so while it would have been nice to know where my iPad was before it died and dissapeared...if only to confirm what I think happened... I guess now that I'll only find it when we move from our current house :-)
