While I appreciate your responding, I'm not sure I see how changing the authentication method for file sharing via webdav helps with accessing the calendar server via a php script.

Gonna take a few to figure all of what it does.
Have you used this? Is the $base_url just the ip of the server?
I'd suggest this could be answered in more detail on a programming forum. Possibly Stack Exchange has a programmers section you could try.
I don't have any experience myself nor do I know the security implications of posting a calendar on a public server.
