Download event to calendar - "iCloud can't find that page"

When my partner invites me to a calendar date event -- we use iCal -- when I click on Download, the event does not place it in iCal like it used to; instead, I'm sent to a page saying "iCloud can't find that page.". Not sure why this is happening now or what caused the change (has been like this for about four months). I can manually drag the event from the invite page into the iCal slot and then I have to change the event name from a long URL to the correct name.
