Bluetooth not available - Mid 2011 iMac

So recently I got a Mid 2011 iMac 21.5" second hand, and I notice that the bluetooth icon on the menu bar had a line through it. It comes on randomly. I have tried every thing I have found to 'fix' this problem and none work perminatly. Any idea how to fix this with out having to take it to an genius bar?

Considering this is a second-hand iMac, it is possible the Bluetooth module has problems and needs to be tested by the techs. While it isn't fun hauling an iMac around, best bet would be a visit to the Apple store genius bar. Call or email ahead for an appointment so you don't stand around with that machine waiting...go to the Apple Retail Store link at the bottom of this page, Genius Bar upper right of that page, Make a Reservation top center.

Quite honestly, AHT is pretty high level as test software goes...there isn't much it catches short of catastrophic problems. Take the iMac to an Apple store genius bar and have the techs run their diagnostic software...they have really good tests. The testing is free so that will tell you where you stand and they will give you an estimate for repair if that is what the tests show.
